The mission call....September 15, 2017
Since Brandon was a small boy he always told us that he was going to speak Chinese (Mandarin) on his mission and that he was going to be one of the first missionaries in China. We would smile at him and thought that would be really neat, but back then there were very few Chinese speaking missions!
He decided that he wanted to open his mission call all by himself in the mountains--the mountains are his second home as any free time he has is spent climbing in them :) He wanted it to be him, the mountains, and Heavenly Father.
He opened it by himself and then called us. We were all on speaker phone together in our various locations and we waited anxiously for him to read it! He was very emotional as he read aloud the words, "You have been called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You have been assigned to labor in the Taiwan, Taichung mission." We all just cried and cheered! I then recalled how so many years ago as a little boy he told me he was going to speak Chinese on his mission...isn't it amazing how the Lord can plant little things in our heart, even as children, to witness to us that He is real and that He knows us individually?

It was a beautiful night as it all settled in. Taiwan is perfect for Brandon and Brandon is perfect for Taiwan!!
After the call he got to go to his intramural kickball game with the cousins!
